B1 Visa

A B1 visa is a type of non-immigrant visa that permits foreign nationals to enter the country for business travel for a brief stay of less than ninety days. The B1 visa is appropriate for brief, non-paid visits for training, conferences and business meetings, lab observation, medical clerkships, or one-time lectures. Research should not be conducted on a B1 visa. On the other hand, honoraria or incidental expense reimbursement might be feasible. A B2 visa is typically required for travel, leisure, medical care, or a brief visitation with friends or family. The B1/B2 visa is designed for brief, infrequent trips for business, pleasure, or medical care.

It is not intended for long-term residency in the United States or for residing there for the most of your time. This visa can be used for a maximum of ten years. The B1/B2 visa can be used for both business and leisure travel, but the US B1 visa is only intended for business travel. Business visitors are expected to cover their own expenses and are not entitled to payment for any transactions completed, yet in some cases honoraria may be accepted.
